Your Pension Plan

The Special Forces Pension Plan (SFPP or the Plan) is a defined benefit pension plan providing Alberta municipal police officers with a predictable source of retirement income.

Both you and your employer pay into the Plan, with your employer’s portion exceeding yours by 1.1%.

The formula for your pension is defined up front, and all pensions are calculated using the same formula. Your pension is based on the salary you earn while working for an SFPP employer and how long you contribute to the Plan. That means the longer you work, the bigger your pension will be. And, because your pension is not affected by market fluctuations, you can accurately predict the monthly payments you will receive for life.

Police services in eight Alberta municipalities participate in SFPP.

SFPP Corporation offices are situated in the heart of Treaty Six territory. Our police members and employers safeguard and support communities across Treaty Six, Treaty Seven, and Treaty Eight territories. We respectfully recognize the heritage and beliefs of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit throughout Alberta who have lived on and cared for this land since time immemorial.
