Transfers Out of SFPP
SFPP has a transfer agreement in place with the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP). If you join a LAPP employer, you may be eligible to transfer your pension benefit directly to LAPP.
LAPP has its own pension benefit formula and will calculate the cost of buying your SFPP service based on this. To make the transfer, you must have left your funds with SFPP.
If this is something you're considering, contact us immediately to ask about the transfer. Part of this process requires the Application to Transfer Pension Entitlements Between SFPP and LAPP.
You are not able to transfer your service out of SFPP if you're currently eligible to collect an SFPP pension, meaning you're vested and:
- age 55 or older; or
- have 25+ years of pensionable service.
