Transfers Out of SFPP

SFPP has transfer agreements in place with the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Pension Plan. If you join LAPP or the RCMP Pension Plan, you may be eligible to transfer your SFPP pension benefit directly to your new plan.

Timelines vary between agreements. If you are considering transferring out of SFPP, contact the pension administrator for your new pension plan as soon as possible.

LAPP and the RCMP Pension Plan have their own pension benefit formulas which will be used to calculate the cost of transferring your SFPP benefit entitlement. To be eligible to transfer, you must have left your funds with SFPP.

You are not able to transfer your benefit entitlement out of SFPP if you were eligible to collect an SFPP pension at the time you terminated from the Plan, meaning you were vested and:

  • age 55 or older; or
  • had 25+ years of pensionable service.

Transferring into LAPP

If you are considering transferring into LAPP, contact us immediately to ask about the transfer. Part of this process requires that you complete and submit an Application to Transfer Pension Entitlements Between SFPP & LAPP form.

Transferring into the RCMP Pension Plan

If you’re considering transferring into the RCMP Pension Plan, contact the RCMP Pension Plan’s administrator at 1-855-502-7090.
