The SFPP Corporation has a small staff to assist the Sponsor Board and Corporate Board in their duties. Those of us at SFPP Corporation appreciate that our police officers are protecting us now, and we want to return the favour by protecting them in their retirement years. Our goal is to provide the SFPP Sponsor Board and Corporate Board with the right tools and information to ensure their decision making is based on the most accurate information and best practices.
Liz Doughty is the CEO for SFPP Corporation, the administrator and trustee of the pension fund of the Special Forces Pension Plan. The Corporation also supports the Sponsor Board. Liz has 20 plus years of executive experience with particular strengths in stakeholder relations, strategic planning, governance, communications, defined benefit pensions, and Board and team leadership. She is a Graduate of the Rotman School of Management, the Directors Education Program (DEP) and holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors, as well as a pensions certificate in Advanced Trust Management Standards (ATMS), and is an Accredited Director through ICSA Canada through the completion of the Directors' Education and Accreditation Program.
Liz has a strong vision of the future of the Corporation, drives the execution of the Plan’s vision and mission, and is proactive in the Corporation’s role in providing a secure retirement for Alberta’s municipal police officers.
In addition to his role as SFPP Corporation’s Chief Finance and Risk Officer, Edward is currently acting as Chief Investment Officer.
Edward has over two decades of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining SFPP Corporation, Edward dedicated 13 years to the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), where he progressively navigated through various functions, from middle office operations to risk management. His tenure at AIMCo included successful initiatives in critical areas, including risk measurement frameworks, controls stewardship, strategic planning, and project management. While with AIMCo, he held roles as the chair and advisor to various management committees. Edward was also a board member at the Edmonton CFA Institute.
Edward holds a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Risk Manager designation. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo.
Christa joined SFPP Corporation in January 2023 as Chief Pension Officer. Her primary responsibility is to lead the development of pension policy, funding requirements, and administration oversight of the Special Forces Pension Plan.
With over 25 years of pension experience working for global consulting firms, managing employer-sponsored pension plans, and supporting pension boards with strategic decision-making and oversight, Christa provides support to the Sponsor and Corporate Boards, CEO and SFPP executive team in support of all SFPP members.
Christa has a BA in political science from the University of Lethbridge.
Sheri is “working in retirement” for SFPP as its Chief Strategy Officer. Prior to this, Sheri served as Vice President of Stakeholder Relations and Communications at LAPP Corporation for 12 years before retiring in 2022. She was a founding director of the Canadian Public Sector Pension Leadership Council up to her retirement, serving 10 years on the Board. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the AIMCo Foundation for Financial Education and served 8 years as the board chair for the Supplemental Integrated Pension Plan of the Alberta School Board’s Association (ASBA). Sheri is a curriculum developer and instructor for the International Foundation in its Master of Trust Management Standards (MTMS) program. She is a graduate of the Rotman School of Management’s Directors Education Program (DEP) and holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Before taking up a career in pensions, Sheri served as executive director, corporate communications for Alberta Health Services. Her first career was as a print journalist for 20 years. Wright served eight years as an elected school trustee in her home community of St. Albert. She holds a BA in political science from the University of Victoria.
