Each general pension information session covers several topics relevant to members throughout their careers. Whether you’re new to SFPP, mid-career, or approaching retirement, these online sessions offer something for everyone, including:

This session is intended for members who are actively participating in the Plan. It is also valuable for potential recruits interested in joining one of the eight participating police agencies across Alberta. Participation will be anonymous, allowing you to ask questions without providing your personal information.

Group Retirement Information Sessions
If you are starting to think about your retirement or are simply interested in learning more about preparing for retirement, this online session is for you.
This session will help you understand your pension, the pension estimator tool, your lifetime monthly pension, how the bridge benefit works, and much more.
Topics include:
- how your pension is calculated
- bridge benefit
- when you can retire
- joint and single lifetime pension options
- pension partners and beneficiaries
- the retirement process
- working in retirement
The session is intended for members who are actively participating in the Plan. Participation is anonymous, allowing you to ask questions without providing your personal information.

One-on-One Retirement Information Sessions

Booking your session
Our one-on-one sessions can happen by phone consultation or a virtual meeting using Microsoft Teams. Sessions are 30-minutes, and available dates and times are listed in the booking calendar. You can access the booking calendar on your secure account when you log in to this website. A virtual meeting invite will be forwarded once the session is confirmed.
If you are dealing with a transfer, buyback, termination or family property division, please contact our Member Services Centre at 1-877-809-7377 to discuss.

Preparing for your session
You can book a one-on-one session to discuss your pension with a pension specialist. Prior to your session, please log in to this website and use the Pension Projection Calculator to produce a pension estimate with a retirement date that you would like to discuss.
Buyback Session
This session will teach you how to increase your SFPP pension by purchasing eligible service such as leaves, prior service with an SFPP employer, service under a different plan, or transfers into SFPP. It will help you understand the value of buying back service, the cost to purchase service, and your payment options.

Termination, Death, and Disability Session
This session will help you understand how your SFPP pension remains secure if you are changing employers or faced with a difficult health situation. It covers a range of topics, including the options available, in the event of a career change, a disability, or even a death.
