If you are joining the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service (ASPS) as a police officer, you may participate in the Special Forces Pension Plan (SFPP).
SFPP is a defined benefit pension plan designed specifically for police officers. It provides a secure, lifetime retirement income, including the ability to retire after 25 years of pensionable service and a bridge benefit payable to age 65.

Note: Other ASPS staff, like sheriffs who do not become police officers, peace officers, and civilian staff, are not eligible for SFPP and may have other pension options available to them.
