2012 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) Increase

The Special Forces Pension Board has granted a Cost-of-Living Adjustment. Effective January 1, 2012, pensioners will receive a 1.2 per cent increase on pensionable service before January 1, 2001 and 0.6 per cent for service after December 31, 2000.

For service before 2001, COLA is equal to 60 per cent of the increase in the Alberta Consumer Price Index (ACPI). For service after 2000, the Board targets a COLA of 30 per cent of ACPI based on Plan affordability.

Pensioners will receive a letter explaining the Cost-of-Living Adjustment along with their January direct deposit pay stub.
